up, up, and away!

Today is Mr. Incredible and my anniversary.... 4 years! (wow!)  To celebrate, we're going away on a mystery weekend get-a-way!  Well, its not a mystery to me... I planned everything.  I know this sounds kind of weird- usually you here about the guy planning a surprise weekend away for his wife... but Mr. I and I have an understanding... and its all about...

...money.

You see Mr. Incredible could go by Mr. Cheap-o.  And I mean that in a good way!  He's very responsible with finances and manages our bills and all things money-related expertly.  He works very had to earn the money we have.  When it comes to spending that money, he starts to have a little problem.  (I should note that I do not have any problems in this department ;) )

Let me give you an example.  When we were remodeling our home, there were many big shopping trips to Home Depot and Lowe's (we don't discriminate against home improvement stores).  On one particularly big purchase (windows I think), I observed Mr. Incredible approach the check-out with  fear and intrepidation.  As he pulled his credit card from his wallet I noticed his hands shaking slightly as his face shone with sweat.  It was then that I (brilliantly) realized Mr. Incredible doesn't like to spend money.  I rescued my Mr. Incredible, sending him to get the car while I used my credit card (same account as his by the way) to make the purchase.  This revelation saved Mr. Incredible incredible amounts of stress and panic in future purchases.  Yes, he still dreaded going over our receipts, but being spared the actual act of spending the money seemed to make all the difference in the world.

So what, you ask, does this have to do with our 4 year anniversary celebration?  Let me tell you... I've planned a special weekend away at an undisclosed location so that Mr. I can actually enjoy himself without thinking about how much the hotel cost or the price of airline tickets.  Brilliant- right?  There are a few flaws in this plan- he could (wrongly) assume that I spent our entire savings on this trip and dread it all the same, but I will quickly come to my own defense with evidence of my frugality.  (And I was indeed very frugal in this whole endeavor!)

So that's the plan.  And, mere hours away from our departure, he still has no idea of where we are heading.  I'm bringing the camera, there should be lots of fun stories to share when we return.  So no bloggies this weekend- hope you all have a wonderful weekend... and stay tuned for more CTF Adventures when we get back!

Oh, and just so you don't go too long without, here's a few Nora photos for you to enjoy... and yes she is wearing a polkadot scarf that happens to match her own spots ;)
