December 1, 2015

Today we signed the official papers to make Mila our daughter. It was official in an office sort of way- we had our photo taken as a family, we spoke with a registrar and signed a few papers, and we were interviewed by a notary.  Then we waited while fees were accounted for and that was it. At breakfast, prior to us signing papers, Mila made some great progress with warming up to me.  I was able to feed her and play with her and she readily smilies and giggled. Sadly, as soon as we stepped foot in the adoption office, it was like a switch had been flipped. Mila only would go to austin and if I looked at her too long she would start to whimper. It was rough.

We muscled through the day though, enjoying an authentic Cantonese celebratory lunch in honor of Mila's adoption.

Tomorrow we will start working in her passport which requires an office visit in the afternoon so we last. To do a bit of exploring in the morning depending on how Mila is feeling (still battling a cold). More tomorrow- hoping for some, steps forward.
